Yes! Good old catalog app iView had an Applescript that could transfer IPTC data from all selected files in a folder to files with the same base name in another folder. It was extremely useful, although there were some glitches (both in the script and the app itself
). It's still in Media Pro, but does not seem to work properly.
I would suggest two 'modes':
1. from selected files to files in other open contact sheets
2. from selected files to files in a target folder designated in a "choose folder" dialog
