Launching Preferences

Default application to edit photos:

1] Let the Finder open files

OR

2] Assign default application : Photo Mechanic 5.app

Which is better/quicker to use?

You would never want to choose Photo Mechanic as the photo editing app.  Either let the Finder open them with the appropriate editor, or assign an editor like Photoshop.

You can also customize the editor for each specific image/video type that Photo Mechanic supports if you like.
