Problem with a variable in IPTC pad.
« on: July 17, 2016, 02:06:35 PM »
I believe I have found a small bug (caused by a typo?) in the variables when setting up a IPTC pad prior to ingesting some photos today.
I double clicked on "monthname", rather than typing it into the caption field, but it appeared as {month name}  with a space. This did not pick up the information. When I deleted the space manually the variable worked fine. Using the short code {mnn} worked fine.

I imagine the OS's 'autocorrect' feature modified the text when it was 'pasted' in.  I'll see if there is anything I can do about it.

Not a huge deal but foxed me for a few minutes. Thanks for the quick response.

I have found a way to temporarily disable auto-correct and text replacement prior to inserting the variable and restore the settings afterwards.  This fixes the problem.  The fix will be in the next build of Photo Mechanic 5.

KIRK

I have worked out a work around.
In the Edit?/ Spelling  menu I have added the common "two word" {variables} I use, ( is it learn? Spelling, I'm writing this on my iPad from memory and can't check PM) so that when the variable is pasted, the spell check recognises it as something I want and doesn't change it.

Thanks again.
