Olympus Pen-F Exif Data problem
« on: October 27, 2016, 07:43:46 PM »
I'm running Windows 10 Professional with Photo Mechanic V 5.0 build 17719. I started shooting with the Olympus Pen-F mirror-less camera (which I love)  but I noticed that Photo Mechanic doesn't display the exif data from jpg files from that camera. The camera is not identified, and there's no lens, shutter, capture time or any other information from the files visible in Photo Mechanic.

Can you post a sample picture? (Smallest possible jpg size)

There's almost no (EXIF) meta data in that file so PM can't show you anything useful.

However, as you sent a file not directly from the camera, it could have been other software that stripped the data. Could you upload another sample, but now directly from the camera? (e.g., set camera to produce smal JPG with low quality and take image with the cap on so it's only black, that will create the smallest file)

Photo Mechanic should read the metadata for the PEN-F, including the maker note, in build 17719.

Your screenshot shows that not even basic Exif data is present, like model, aperture, shutter etc.

So the images are not from the camera and have been modified by some other software (e.g. edited by some program then saved out as a new image).  Hopefully it isn't the Windows OS that is removing this important info!

I do not have any problems with Exif info for my Pen-F images.
