A "new" bug found?
« on: March 03, 2007, 07:28:59 AM »
Hi Kirk,

today I found a new problem within the current version. I'm not sure if someone else notified this before. If so, then please ignore this posting...  ;)

PM seams to have problems with german special characters in IPTC fields, e.g. äöüÜÄÖ... I assume that the same problem occurs on other languages, too
- PM Output:  "‹berpr¸fungswettkampf"
- but it should be: "Überprüfungswettkampf"

Kind regards,
Lars

What do you mean by PM Output?  Where are you viewing the IPTC fields?  In Photo Mechanic, or some other app?

Basically it's not a bug but a difference in encoding between various programs.  Photo Mechanic uses only the MacRoman encoding, but other apps use different encodings.

In version 4.5 we let you choose your encoding, including Unicode which works with all languages.

I mean the "Info" section, where the different variables like shutter, aperture etc. are shown. I'm looking forward to the 4.5...  :D When will it be available?

cheers,
Lars

If you are on a PC, I have found that changing the prefs in the IPTC/XMP < IPTC line endings to CR/LF fixes that issue.
