Incremental Ingest error message
« on: December 02, 2016, 02:54:09 AM »
I'm seeing this error message pop up more and more, all with different cards

"Incremental Ingest: Unable to create or locate Ingest data file on /Volumes/NIKON D900.  Is this a read-only volume?  Incremental Ingest will not function for this volume."

My cards can't be read only otherwise they wouldn't work in camera. Or am I missing something?

Thanks!

See if you can copy a file to the card with your OS.  If you can't copy a file there, then PM won't be able to put its ID file on the card either.

No, I don't seem to be able to copy a (plain text) file onto the card. But this is true of a couple of other cards for which I don't get a warning.

I'm becoming confused...

This appears to be something to do with whether the card is in my MacBook Pro's SD card reader or a separate (in this case) Lexar reader.

In the MBP's built in reader I can't do anything with it using Disk Utility. In the external reader I can repair and erase the card.

Thanks for the link. As suggested there, if I format the card with one model camera its fine. Use another its locked.

Well at least Apple have fixed this problem in their 2106 MacBook Pros  ;D
