Like I said, this time I forgot about the issue, but as a developer user op MacOS, I always do some 'field tests'. This is 'the' place where you find errors and issues. I always test relative stable versions. The only reason I mention it is because I think that many Photographers will experience this as a big issue, and they need to think twice before using it in the field at this moment.

Found a little solution for now. I run a terminal command before I ingest the files in Photo Mechanic. This removes the locks on the files. For some reason some photos stayed tagged, I don't know why. It's not the solution, but it works for now...

I run this command in terminal:
Code: [Select]
chflags -R nouchg /Volumes/NIKON\ D5
The volume depends on the name of the memory card of course. I run the release candidate of High Sierra now, but this update didn't bring the solution.

Cheers,
Lars

Hi Lars,

I would like for you to enable additional logging in Photo Mechanic and send us an updated log file. Please unzip the attached PMDebug.txt.zip file and place the PMDebug.txt file in the following directory on your computer:

Windows:
   C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Camera Bits, Inc\Photo Mechanic\

Mac OS X:
   /Users/<username>/Library/Preferences/com.camerabits.PhotoMechanic/

Restart Photo Mechanic if it's running. Then recreate the problem and send me the updated PM.log / PM_log.zip file by going into Photo Mechanic's Help menu and Reveal Support Data. Click Yes in the next dialog and include the PM_log.zip file in a new post, or send me a personal message with the log file.

-Jerry

Lars,

Thanks for the log file.  Do you have PM set to use XMP sidecar files or do you have PM embed IPTC/XMP metadata into your NEFs?  If you're unsure, please upload a screenshot showing your IPTC/XMP settings in the Preferences dialog.  Use the 'Attachments and other options' link when you're composing your reply to this message and there you'll be able to upload your JPEG format screenshot.

Thanks,

-Kirk

You would scale them down by 50% and then post them.

- Thanks for the info! Next time I will scale them first before I upload the image(s) to the forums. I thought that it was possible to scale them on the forum with some code.

- Just curious, is there some news already about the ingest issue? Is there something else I could do to help?

Cheers,
Lars

Found two more problems (tiny) while using PM on High Sierra.

- The IPTC fields are not sizable, a little bit of the text is not visible.
- PM doesn't recognize an 'alias' (shortcut). I have two folder shortcuts on my desktop, on MacOS Sierra they weren't present in the contact sheet, on MacOS High Sierra, they are shown as a folder with an question mark in it.

Cheers,
Lars

Also snap shots are no longer in alphabetical order.

Could you please post a screen shot of the "folder with an question mark in it"?

Lars,

Are those two aliases ones you made since the upgrade or were they made prior to the upgrade?

What is the format of the volume containing your Desktop folder?

Thanks,

-Kirk

Both! They did excist but also created new ones. They point to a folder in ‘Documents’. The volume is formatted to APFS (the new Apple standard).

To be clear, one of them was an alias from before your drive was converted to APFS, and one of them was created after the volume conversion?

Thanks,
