How to Install an Update

I've searched the forum & the Wiki, but can't seem to find this anywhere:  When I install an update to Photo Mechanic, should I first uninstall the old version?  And if I do uninstall it, will I have to re-activate afterwards, and will my Preferences be preserved?
I am running PM v. 5.0 build 18729 on Windows 10 Pro (64 bit).  I was just prompted by Photo mechanic to download build 18895.

You can simply install again.  No settings will be lost, and you'll still be activated.
