Disk Cache?
« on: September 29, 2017, 11:41:28 AM »
Any idea why I'm getting this window? It stays on the screen for a long time after I close PM

Any settings I should change here:

Delane,

You do have a large-ish disk cache so if you browse a lot of images it will get filled up with a large number of files.  If you never want to see that progress box, you can uncheck the 'Empty Disk Cache on Quit' checkbox.  Or you can reduce the size to 2000 and the wait will be very short (you may not see the progress box at all.)

I observed the same effect but only on my MacBookPro on High Sierra. It doesn't make a big difference if I have the disk cache on 2000 or 3000.
"Empty Disk Cache" is activated, but the window stays quiet a few seconds, which didn't do normally in previous PM version.

Same here using High Sierra. I also get a prolonged 'moving files to trash' dialogue.

When this occurs for you (the trash problem), how many images are you moving to the trash?  And have you scrolled through all of the images and have they shown their thumbnails prior to your moving them to the trash?

Kirk,

The amount varies, but typically around 1000 in one go. I review all the images, 'mark up' the keepers with a colour tag and then bin the rest. I'm sure this is a High Sierra problem as this behavior didn't present itself (ever) before I choose to update.
