"Edit Photo With" question... and THANKS!
« on: December 11, 2017, 08:57:39 PM »
I imagine this is a kindergarten level question for y'all here, but it's something I canNOT figure out how to do.

I have PhotoMechanic 4.6.9

When you right click on a contact sheet thumbnail, one of the options in the panel that appears is
"Edit Photo With"

If you hover your cursor on that, you get a fly-out panel with a list of image editing applications, three in my case.

It's been SO long I don't remember how those three applications even got there,
but regardless I wish to
- get rid of two applications I no longer have/use
- add a couple of new applications

I canNOT figure out how to do this.

Can you tell me?

Much obliged for your time.

It's been SO long I don't remember how those three applications even got there,

And I have been on version 5 too long to remember how it worked in version 4. :-)

In v5 I would do Edit -> Preferences and select the Launching Tab where I can select a default application for  photos and one for movies. A bit further down there is a lead text "Assign specific applications for each file type:" just to the left of a button dubbed "Set...".

When I click that button and scroll to the bottom of the popup, I can see my entries for Custom editor #1, Custom editor #2 etc. With a little luck, your three applications may be #1, #2 and #3.

Odd,

Took me a while, many diverse things going on besides photography, but...

Thanks!

Actually, I had previously found the "Preferences|Launching|Assign specific editing applications for each file type"  function.

But apparently I had not discerned all its mysteries.

Indeed assigning my 3 new apps to three of the Custom Editor positions (#1,#2,#3) got my 3 new apps appearing in the little "Edit Photo With" fly-out pane.
But that didn't get rid of my 3 old defunct apps that I wanted to get rid of.
Apparently they were not in Custom Editor positions #1, #2, #3 and get over-ridden.

I did, though finally find them hiding, each assigned to one of the 34 pre-written out functions above the Custom slots.
So... I changed those 3 to "Use Default Option" and BAM! they now be history!

So much obliged for spurring me to dig deeper into that tab.

James
