Transfer Crop data from PM to Capture One 11
« on: April 05, 2018, 10:31:22 AM »
I am running Photo Mechanic version 5, build 19395 on Windows 10x64.

I use PM and Capture One 11 in my workflow. The transfer of the color class and rating information works fine from PM to Capture One 11. Unfortunatly Capture One 11 can't be read the crop data. Are there any settings in PM where I can optimize the synchronisation of the crop data?

Best Regards,
Stephan

No.  Photo Mechanic writes out crops in XMP metadata that are compatible with Adobe products (Photoshop, Lightroom, Bridge).  It would be up to the folks that produce Capture One to read Adobe crop information.  I am not aware of any crop data written to XMP by Capture One.  If they do indeed write crop data to XMP, please share a sample XMP file and we'll see if we can write out a crop that Capture One can recognize.

Kirk,

thank you for the quick reply. I have send a support request to the capture one team to clarify if they write or read any crop data out of the XMP sidecar file. As soon as I got a reply from them I will forward it to you.

Kirk,

Update on this topic. I got a response to my request from Phase One support:

Capture One only reads meta data out of XMP files and does not support reading crop data out of XMP.
We can certainly raise this as a feature request but it is not a feature which is currently supported.

Feature request have been raised.

So maybe in the one of the next releases of Capture One the crop Information is read from the XMP files. I will keep you informed.

Regards,
Stephan

Yep -- just one of the several things wrong with Capture One.

anything new on this? Still would be nice to be able to "foreward" the cropping from pm to Capture One
Working since 2012 on https://www.mut-tour.de: As Initiator and "art director" I deal a lot with my and other photographers images and am happy to leave fuggin' Adobe's subscription trap. Hoping camera bits guys keep on programming.

Nothing from our side of the issue.  We put the crops in the XMP metadata and Adobe apps recognize them.  Capture One would have to do the same.
