Copying filenames
« on: June 02, 2018, 08:33:46 AM »
For each project I edit images through a series of folders-raw, 16 bit tiffs, 8 bit tiffs, jpegs.
I rename selected edited images-each one often selected out of 4 or 5 similars- at the 16 bit stage. If necessary I would like to be able to refer a finished image back to the original raw image.
I can do this by assigning to every raw image a unique sequential number, using a little used field, that follows the editing process down to the finished image.

Less cumbersome would be to copy the filename of every raw image to an unused field allowing renamed files to be more easily matched with the original.
Any suggestions how?

Thanks

Hi Paul,

I use an IPTC Stationary Pad during ingest to set several items including saving the original file name. You could apply the IPTC Stationary Pad after ingest also.  See the attached jpeg for how I do it.
