My enlarged photos change colour when I scroll forwards
« on: July 04, 2018, 04:51:33 AM »
For your info I am using :

Photo Mechanic Version 5.0, build 19631
MacBook Pro Retina 15" 2,7 Ghz Intel i7
Mac OS Sierra

I have a recurring problem with Photo mechanic : when I scroll forward using the enlarged imaged, after a while my images become desaturated when I look at them.

What can be done to resolve this issue ?

Attached are 2 example images.

Thanks,

Andrew

Check your Caching settings in the Preferences dialog.  Make sure the Memory Cache is not set to a size greater than 256MB.  If this doesn't fix the problem, then I'd like to see your Photo Mechanic log.  In Photo Mechanic go to the Help menu and choose "Reveal Support Data..." and moments later a Finder window will come forward with the zipped log file selected.  Use the 'Attachments and other options' link when you're composing your reply to this message and there you'll be able to upload your zipped PM log file.

Thanks,

-Kirk

Hi,

The memory Cache was set to 256 Mb so I am sending you the log file.

Best,

Andrew

Andrew,

Thanks for the log.  I see no error messages from the Color Management code.  So I don't know why you're experiencing this problem.  For a problem like this, I suggest contacting our support folks at:

By email: support@camerabits.com

By phone: +1 503.547.2800 option 2

I am having the same problem, happening only on the external monitor ...

Sometimes it would shift colours from image to image, sometimes it makes a difference if I am not going through the images in fullscreen mode, sometimes vice-versa ... but whenever the colour shift does occur, when zooming in, it always shows the right colour, but when you zoom out (fit to screen), it gets oversaturated again ...

Hi Andrew,

Can you provide a before and after of the same photo? The images you shared are two different images. If the image desaturates after a few seconds, you can press CMD+Shift+4 on a Mac to take a quick screenshot that gets saved to your desktop. Please send these screenshots to support@camerabits.com, its easier to track your replies via our dedicated support system.

Thanks!

was this problem solved? I have the same problem. the color shifts, for a few photos it is okay, and then a few are over saturated, then it is okay again ...

on the other hand, when I zoom into the photos, to check focus and sharpness, photos get normal again, and when I zoom out, colors go wrong again.

any idea what is the problem?

most of the time it happens on the external monitor.

Update:

usually I work with AdobeRGB files, this weekend I was working with sRGB files - noticed, that there are no color shifts when working with sRGB files - anyone else noticed that or was I just to tired to notice?

Best,
Jure
