"type " is strange

I tried {filenamebase}.{type} and obtain :
picture.NNEF for Nikon
SARW for Sony and ADNG for Leica

Yes now I put {filename} and all is correct.

I wish understand the result of {type}

{type} is the four character file type code for the image/movie being evaluated.

It is rare for it to be used at all, and is not suitable for file renaming.  PM will always put the proper filename extension on your images/movies when renaming.
