Send pictures via e-mail - ppi value
« on: November 21, 2018, 01:11:03 PM »
Hello,

I've been working as a freelance photojournalist for 20 years and have now discovered Photo Mechanic. :) The program is really great and has greatly simplified my image editing.

But I have a problem. Is it possible to change the ddp setting when sending pictures via e-mail?
At the moment, all images are output with 200ddp.

I found no solution in the forum.

Thank you.

greetings
Thomas

There is a preference for a default DPI in the Files section of the Preferences dialog.

Quote
Add Photoshop resolution info to Camera JPEGs during IPTC update: Sets the default resolution for files created during Copy or IPTC Updates for other imaging applications which use a dpi value for sizing.

I think this DPI will be used when generating the images while emailing.

Hello Kirk,

Thanks for your quick reply.

I have already tried that. Unfortunately, this does not change the ppi value when sending pictures via e-mail.

I wanted a value of 350ppi.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong?

greetings
Thomas

Thomas,

I have already tried that. Unfortunately, this does not change the ppi value when sending pictures via e-mail.

I wanted a value of 350ppi.

Try using the Save Photos as... command on the File menu and set the resolution.  Then click the Close button at the bottom of the dialog.

Then try the email feature.  I think it will use the value last set in the Save As dialog.

HTH,

-Kirk
