PM5 and Nikon Capture NX2
« on: February 03, 2019, 04:48:59 AM »
Have been using PM5 and NX2 for a number of years without too many problems. However, this week end I have found that NX2 is crashing very badly to the extent I have to power off and restart PC. I have tried Nikon Capture NX-D but although it is good it is not as good as NX2. Moreover, the side car files it uses make it not a good fit with PM5. If I have to I would switch to using Photoshop rather than losing PM5 which I think is a terrific piece of kit.

Is anyone else having these problems?

I loved NX2, but  haven't used it for a while now. It however doesn't surprise me that (e.g. after a system update) it no longer works well.

A long while ago I switched fully to Adobe Camera Raw and a dng workflow.  The advantage of dng is that you can still embed a jpg preview (and keep it up to date). Thus allowing the same workflow with PM5 as before with NX2 :)
