Quick search finds more than it should - MacOS 10.14.4
« on: April 29, 2019, 01:12:21 PM »
Hi,

I am using for my filenames a system which consists of 2 numbers. A leading number, which defines the job. So, one particular job has a particular number e.g. 1025. Followed by a hyphen and a particular image number. A complete image number could look like this 1025-0206 or 975-1025. If I put 1025- in the quick search field to find only the images related to job 1025 it will also show other images e.g. 975-1025. Quick search seems to ignore the hyphen. Is this ment to be?

Thank you Ralf

I am using Photo Mechanic Plus Version 6.0, build 3029 (9dd0f3c) with MacOS 10.14.4

Hi,

Quick search seems to ignore the hyphen. Is this ment to be?

Indeed, hyphen is currently among punctuation that is not indexed. (However, I see no reason we couldn't allow it in a future build.)

In the meantime, it's possible to left-anchor a search with the "^" character.

So, searching for ^1025 should only match fields that begin with 1025.

Hope this helps,

Bill

The work around works well, but indexing the hyphen would be perfect.

Many thanks
