Opening Contact Sheet

Is it not possible to open a folder contact sheet while Scan to Catalog is in progress. In this case I am trying to open a contact sheet of 20061118 FBC UF vs W Carolina and nothing happens. Is it not possible to view other catalogs during the process scanning process?

What happens if you deselect the catalog in progress for searching?

I am not able to select or deselect the search or add/modify buttons. After quitting and a restart it worked, I have to do this after every new catalog I create that is over 25k. I have generate preview and thumb nail turned off.
My archive are stored on a ThunderBay 4 Four-Bay Thunderbolt 2
