Catalog indexing very slow

Is it normal, that reindexing of some 50000 pics in the catalog takes more than 1 day?

On what kind of disk is the catalog stored?  I re-indexed three 30k+ catalogs yesterday in a couple of hours.  My catalogs are on a SSD.

it's on a ssd too. Last evening indexing was finished.

I'd like to see your Photo Mechanic log.  In Photo Mechanic go to the Help menu and choose "Reveal Support Data..." and moments later a Finder/Windows Explorer window will come forward with the zipped log file selected.  Use the 'Attachments and other options' link when you're composing your reply to this message and there you'll be able to upload your zipped PM log file.

FWIW, I have a Win 10 machine, i5, dual SSDs: Program C and Data D.
40,000 images took <40 minutes. by comparison.
