Hello,

Your opinion on the transition from APPLE to ARM.
Should you decide on the latest Intel 27 "iMac (released today) to quietly wait for the transition to ARM or keep your old Mac for the new ARMs at the end of the year?
Kirk and the PM team's opinion on this transition would also be welcome.
What does this mean for the development of PhotoMechanic?

It may take us quite some time to get a fully-optimized ARM build of Photo Mechanic and Photo Mechanic Plus completed.  We rely on a number of hand-tuned Intel assembly-coded algorithms that will take time to translate to ARM.

Personally, I will probably buy the best Intel-based macOS system just before they're phased out.  Apple is promising a translation system (Rosetta 2) that will allow Intel apps to run on ARM, but it is likely that performance will suffer, so for that reason I'd stick with Intel-based macOS systems for the next year or two.

Yes, I imagine the difficulty for you, making an ARM version and maintaining the Mac intel and Windows versions ...
I wonder how many "small teams" are going to develop ARM versions of their software ...

Let's wait for the rest of the events ...

is there any update on the transition to fully-optimized ARM build of Photo Mechanic?

It's been a while since these Macs have been released and many important photography apps such as Adobe suite (Lightroom & Photoshop) and Capture One have already made the ARM transition.
