I have no idea.  What metadata is that panel showing?  IPTC?  XMP?

I suggest entering the name of each field into each field and then see what shows up.

What is this control panel?  Photo Mechanic doesn't have any window called "Control Panel".

I have no idea what the Subject field in the 'Details' tab of the file Properties stores its data into.  I took a JPEG, brought up the Properties on the image, clicked on the Details page, and then clicked in the Subject field.  I typed the word 'Subject' and then OK'd the Properties window.  I opened up the file in a Hex editor and searched the file for 'Subject' and did not find it.  I then brought up the Details tab of the Properties for that file and the Subject field is empty once again.

Seems like it is broken.

Can you tell me why this field is important to you?

I did some more research and Microsoft has a lot of redundancy in their data.  They write the same fields to multiple places (EXIF, IPTC, XMP) which is odd.  They also have a bunch of data in their own namespace that PM does not display or edit.  But while I can find out where they store things like "Authors" and "Tags", I can't see where they store "Subject".  It isn't in the JPEG file anywhere that I can find.

Anyhow, I don't think PM will be of use to you for setting this mystery "Subject" field.
