Scan folder for changes

After scanning a folder into a catalog how do you 're-scan' for changes of metadata or new files?

There's a command on the Catalog menu named "Sync Catalogs..." which brings up the Catalog Sync window.  The best documentation for the feature at this time is in the ReadMe.pdf file in the installer/disk image.
