What does it mean for "you" to be off-line?  Not connected to the internet?

I'm still not following.  You just want to ingest new images onto a hard drive that is connected to (or inside of) your computer?

If you ingest to your internal hard drive when you're away from home, there is no need to have a catalog for that purpose so just ingest to a location on your internal drive and when you get home, you can copy the files to your Synology RAID drive and then either Scan to Catalog the new folder on the Synology RAID or use the Quick mode of the Catalog Sync utility to find and add the new files to your catalog.

No need to Auto Catalog when you're away from home.
