Keywords separator Semi-colon
« on: January 23, 2021, 08:20:44 AM »
Hello,

I entered keywords with semi-colon separators altough (I discovered it later), in the preference, the separator was set to comma.  I change it to semi-colon.

When I use in the organizer the filter or the browser to search picture related to a particular keyword, the different keywords  appears as one long keyword

example :

I entered as keywords :

41; couverts; cuillere; couteau

I was expecting in the organizer to see
41
couvers
cuillere
couteau

But it is not.  It appears as one line.

Is this a normal behavior? If yes I do not understand the logic of PM concerning multiple keywords with separators.

thank you in advance for advice
Best regards
Eric

Expected behavior, yes.  Your keywords in the example above are just one long keyword to Photo Mechanic Plus because the metadata has those semi-colons in the actual keyword data.  Changing the preference won't spontaneously cause all of the images to change the separator.  You'd have to repair them with a Find and Replace.

How many images are in this state?

Hello,

Thank you for your feedback. There must be around 500 images in this situation. I will try tomorrow the find and replace solution.

Is there a better alternative?

Best regards
Eric

No, Find and Replace is the preferred method.
