Problem with certain caracters
« on: April 24, 2007, 06:25:26 PM »
I would like to use a code replacement in my file name generation, but Ingest window doesn't allow me to enter / caracters into the filename, they are allways replaced by - signs.
Working on Mac, OSX, iOS and with some Canons.
Allways shooting RAW.

Change your Code Replacement delimiter to some other letter that is easy to type that is not a filesystem-related character.  '/' is used as a path separator on Mac OS X. We replace it with '\' because many people make the mistake of trying to use '/' when they mean '\' so we automatically replace that character.  Of course '\' is used as a path separator on Windows so you can't use it either.  You could use '-' instead as your delimiter.

However '-' is comonly used in my filenames so it could make misinterpreted code replacements. I think I will have to use some rarely used characters that can be used in filenames like one of these &ĐłŁ.

Thanks for your help.

Well I tried setting Đ as a handy delimiter (it is easy to reach on my keyboard) but PM wouldn't allow it. I press Ok but disappears from the delimiter text box so I set now + it works fine. Just wanted to add to the discussion that such characters as Đ and § didn't work for code replacement delimiters .... however they would fit the task since I never use them for anything else...
