Add to Collection function has disappeared

iMac Retina 5K 27 inch late 2015 24 GB Ram
running 10.15.7, on update short of current as of 03/29/2021, that update pertains only to battery charging on older MacBook Pros according to Apple

I have a search result of 46,196 tiff files.

I'm working on making a selection of images that are stored in a Collection. There's 824 images in the Collection.

I've been working on this for a few days. The first image I wanted to add worked fine today. But now I highlighted a second image and there is no "Add to Collection" in the right click menu, or under the Image menu. It's like the function has just disappeared.

Ok Ignore this. I don't know if I just missed it, but it's back. Sorry for the alarm.

Actually the problem is back. I had mounted on the five hard drives indexed in the catalog and the catalog began to run slowly. So I closed the catalog window and dismounted the hard drive. I reopened the catalog, did the search that brought up the same 45,xxx results. And yet again the "Add to Collection" function is missing.

Is PM Plus doing something in the background that doesn't allow the "Add to Collection" function to show?

And now I think it's user error. You have to have the name of the collection highlighted in the left hand navigation to be able to modify the collection and right click to add or subtract photos to the collection.
