PM 6 5997
« on: August 17, 2021, 01:27:45 PM »
just upgraded to this version from 5404 and program freezes when I asked to move 137 raw files.  Wont abort and Ctl-Alt-Del cannot kill process to try to re-start program.  Doesnt show up as a running application but process is still there and cannot stop it.  Have to re-start system to clear process then re-start program.   Has done this to me twice now.  Will revert back to 5404 ....

64 bit Windows 7

Move via what method?  Drag and drop?  Copy/Move dialog?  Where is the source and where is the destination?

Build 5820 would be a better build to revert to.

build 5820 did the same thing - caused a freeze which necessitated a re-start.     Went back to 5404 and it moved the files instantly....

Well that's odd.  When you said:

moving to an existing folder within a main event folder.

What kind of drive is the main event folder stored on?

an external raid volume which contains all my events.  I had downloaded all files into one folder then started moving each separate division to its own folder under the same tree.  Have always done this without issue.  Why those two builds froze was surprising.

Agreed.  I'd like to get to the bottom of it because unless it is fixed, each update you install will continue to have the problem.

This external RAID volume, does it have a drive letter assigned?  Is it attached directly to your system or is it a network drive (NAS)?

Can you give me an example path for the main event folder?

Thanks,

-Kirk

easiest way is screen shot - attached.

red star is USB 3 RAID drive WD8T 2019 with drive letter P assigned.
green star is folder containing shows photographed in 2021
yellow is show I shot this past weekend
blue - when trying to move 137 raw files from "remotes" to folder "2 star" the freeze occurred.

build 5404 handled it without issue.  I had just upgraded to upgrade but it didnt quite work out...

Cealy,

Thanks for the screenshot.  I'm seeing a bunch of stuff on it that is created by macOS systems.  Do you share this drive between your Windows PC and a macOS system?  What is the filesystem on the drive?  NTFS?  FAT32?  ExFAT?   Something else?

Thanks,

-Kirk
