Do you think Photomechanic will add support for the new OM System (Olympus) OM-1 Camera?

Shouldn't the question really be "When do you think Photomechanic will add support for the new OM System (Olympus) OM-1 Camera?"

Actually, I'm curious as to why the support isn't instantaneous.  Is the internal structure of the OM-1 orf file different from all of the other orf files.  PM can read (at least some) of the metadata but it can't render the embedded jpeg.  Do you have to reverse engineer the structure of every new raw file that comes along?

We are working on this, and I suspect that YES this format is different enough from the original Olympus company ORF files to require us to have a very careful examination of the Maker Note.  The standard Exif fields I suspect we find but for us to show the embedded preview of ORF files (from Olympus) required us to parse the Maker Note.  Probably the same layout.

Looks like OM Digital Solutions (OM SYSTEM) follows the same format as Olympus regarding their Maker Note.  I've updated the code and so far it looks good for us to support this camera in a future release.  We can provide a test build for you.

I'm also interested in a test build. Taking a lot more frames now with the fast readout on the electronic shutter. Think Photo Mechanic might be a good tool for me.

Please see http://forums.camerabits.com/index.php?board=15.0 for the 6375 build that supports the OM-1.
