Can’t apply metadata templates

When using the catalog side of photo mechanic 6 plus says none of the selected photos are in a format that can be captioned by the version of photo mechanic plus

Generally this message will appear when attempting to apply a metadata template to images that are "offline"

Are you attempting to apply a metadata template to files that are offline? What type of files are in the selection that you are applying the template to?
