customise right clik of mouse
« on: May 30, 2006, 02:12:18 AM »
Hello,
Thanks as usual for this great product.
I want to know if it would be possible ot customised the menu displayed with the right click of the mouse ?
Their are options i really don't need and other i would like to see go higher in the choice list.

Also i would like to know if you see more than one application for editing photos. As i use Nikon Capture, Capture One and Photoshop.

bests

I have no plans to make the contextual menus customizable right now, but that could change depending on demand.

You can choose a different editor for each file type that you edit, and you can add an additional ten editors that are not assigned to any specific file type.  Open up the Preferences dialog, click on the "Launching" tab and then click on the "Set" button across from the text that reads "Assign specific editing applications for each file type:".  Set your editors in the dialog that pops up.

Then when you right click on a photo or a group of selected photos, you can choose "Edit photo with" and a submenu will appear with your list of editors.  For a group you can choose "Edit selected photos with" and use its submenu.

When I right click I get the options to import to iViewMedia Pro, add to portfolio and stuffit options. It would very nice to be able to open a PM window of pictures with a right click/select option.

Thanks again,
Hope this helps,

Go to Preferences, General tab.  On the upper right section, you tell PM what you want it to do when a Camera disk is mounted.  You can tell it to Ingest if you'd like.

I have only 3 options :

- do nothing
- show ingest (what i do now)
- open as contact sheet

I can't see any options to ingest automatically the pictures on the card.
or am i missing something ?

What OS platform are you running?  If it is Windows, you'll have to mess around with your AutoPlay settings.

I am on a Mac

Go to the Preferences dialog.  Click on the "Launching" tab.  At the top of the Launching section is text that says: "Configure Image Capture to launch Photo Mechanic when a Camera Disk is mounted:" and to the right of the text is a button that says: "Set".  Click on the "Set" button.  Then click on the "OK" button.

Now when a Camera disk is inserted, PM will launch and you should see the Ingest dialog come up.

Thanks Kirk,
These are my settings at the moment.
My request was for (as in Images Transfer in Mac osX) to upload directly all the pictures of a card to a folder without confirmation.
PM has the great option to unmount the disk after ingest and that's why i prefer it to IT from Apple at the moment.

Thanks for your great support.

What is "Images Transfer"?

So you want the Ingest dialog to not even appear and just start downloading whenever a camera card/disk is mounted?

Image transfer is the software included in Mac osX which deal which cards or camera connected to the computer.
It has an option to upload pictures directly into a folder.

Yes that's exactly what i would like uplaod without asking  :-[
Very good when you shoot soccer with the laptop next to you but out of reach and the card reader in your hands.

Thanks
