Getting sidecar info embedded
« on: August 07, 2007, 01:49:41 PM »
I'm sure this will be a pain no matter how I do it, but can anybody describe the most efficient way to get the data in my sidecar files embedded into the accompanying NEFs? I used to embed only, then I switched to sidecars only (for various reasons). Now I'd like to do both because I use Capture NX and ACR.

I've set up the stationary pad to start doing this from now on - I'd just like to get the existing sidecar data for about six months worth of NEFs embedded (in the most painless way possible).

(Power Mac G5 w/OS X 10.410 - running latest version of PM) - Thanks

If I understand you correctly you want to have the XMP information from the sidecar file embedded in the NEF.  This is easily done by performing a "Update IPTC/XMP" from the tools menu; this will synchronise all settings using your preferences.

Just make sure the order in which PM uses the info is set correctly in the preferences (Edit|Preferences|IPTC/XMP), also make sure you select the appropriate settings when writing XMP/IPTC information.

Hope this helps,

Thanks, Hayo. Yes, you understand me correctly. I'll give that a try.
