Frame Number /w Canon 800IS P&S

I am using the ingest feature of Photo Mechanic and everything works great, except for one thing that is a little bewildering.   I use the frame number as part of the downloaded filename, and with every camera I shoot (which includes Canon 20D, 30D, 1DmkII, and a Canon 700IS P&S) the frame number works perfectly.  However, with the Canon 800 IS P&S, the frame number is always blank.  I can send a sample JPG for reference, I should also note that I shoot the 20D, 30D, and 1D in RAW.

How are the images named by the camera?

The images are named IMG_<seq>.jpg where I believe <seq> is the frame number.

Yes.

Here are the macros I am using.

Directory
{year4}/{month0}-{monthname3}/{day0}-{dow}/

File
{model}-{frame4}-{hour24}{minute}{second}

It is the {frame4} tag that comes out blank with the Canon SD800 IS P&S camera.  These macros work perfectly with my 20D, 30D, and 1D.

Can you send us one of the images from your camera directly off the card?  I don't want it to pass through Ingest first.

Oh, sorry.  Dennis looked into the sample image and found that it worked perfectly fine with the {frame} variable so he is wondering what your workflow would have to had been like to cause it not to function correctly for you?

I was using the image ingester, and all the images were missing the frame number.

If your images are named IMG_1234.JPG and you use the {frame} or {frame4} variable, then even if we cannot find an internal makernote/Exif indicator, PM will at least extract the '1234' from the filename.  This should work with any JPEGs/RAW files that conform to the above naming scheme.

We took your sample image and were able to use the {frame} variable and it worked fine for us.  So I am wondering what your Ingest settings are?  Something has to be different about how your are doing your workflow from how we are doing our tests.

Apply IPTC stationary pad is checked yes too.
