NB Question

When I want to drag an image from a contact sheet to another folder or application, as opposed to drag to select multiple images, what is the sequence?  It seems like it's select and wait, but I can't figure out for how long.  If it is select and wait, is it adjustable?

No, it's select with left mouse button, release left mouse button, click left mouse button and drag with left mouse button down until you reach your destination target.
