Dumb question but my first use of PM.  How do you "move" photos on the "contact sheet?"  Like take a photo and drag it? or drop it? from number 4 to number 345 or something?
Thanks

Select the photo with the mouse (it will become highlighted) then click and drag it to the new position and release the mouse button.

Kirk, I'm doing something wrong.  It just won't work.  The click, drag and drop method is what I've always done in ACDSee but in PM all it does when I select is produce the gray frame, and the four buttons at the corners.  When I try to drag with mouse held down, it won't go.
It's amazing how dumb one can be with a new method ! ! !

When I try to "drag" it just selects all the images between my starting point and the point where I want to drop the image.

What version of Photo Mechanic are you using?

I bought it about a month ago but haven't been able to start using until today. Trying to transition from ACDSee.
Thanks,

OK, there is a setting that won't allow you to make an Arrangement (that's what PM calls reordering photos via drag and drop) unless you have the Sort popup menu set to Arrangement.  It is on the Contact Sheet tab of the Preferences dialog in PM.

I'm still screwing up.  On the page I am looking at, on top is a "Sort by" then in the box is says "Arrangement" and to right is unchecked box that says "reverse."

I still can't drag and drop images for some reason.

Thanks for all your help...I'll try to get back with someone in the morning and see if I can do this right.
