FTP Connections
« on: December 14, 2007, 01:46:34 PM »
Is it possible to copy over the FTP connections from one computer to another?  If so how do I find them?  I just bought a new laptop and want to bring over my FTP connections.

thanks,

Unless you are very technically capable, it is not easy to do so.  And the ease of this transfer varies by OS platform.  What OS are you running?

P.S. I'm sorry it so long to respond, but your question was originally posted in the Quantum Mechanic forum which I do not check frequently.

Hey Kirk,

This is something i am interested in as well.  Any plans to simplify this in the future?  Basically what i would like to do is keep a current backup pc available in the event of a pc crash and would like to be able to easily update the configuration on the backup machine without having to renter everything twice.

Fyi, i am running on XP.

Mike

I would like to add the ability to completely export/import all Photo Mechanic preferences to a single file that can easily be backed up and transferred from machine to machine.

We've talked about adding it to version 4.6, but we'll have to wait and see...

Would making the FTP system use the Mac OS Keychain be possible?  Or is there a way of displaying the FTP passwords within PM?

Yes it would be possible, but it would make that code need to be rewritten specifically for the Mac.

No.  For security reasons, they're not able to be made visible.

If you're not a RegEdit expert, I really don't want to instruct you.  How are your RegEdit skills?

RegEdit is a very dangerous utility.
