many request for IPTC pad
« on: June 14, 2006, 01:03:13 AM »
Here are my requests for the IPTC stat. pad  :

I would like to be able to change the file name directly in the IPTC pad or something like an option to add automaticaly to the file name "transmission ref" and or "object name" or others.
Could we also have the colors pref.

Another new feature would be the direct copy of the caption into the headline.

That would even same me more time as PM saved em already.
thanks

Denis

I don't think renaming should be done in the IPTC Stationery Pad.

If you want to put the current filename into your IPTC data, use the {filename} variable.

In the IPTC Stationery Pad?

Then put the {caption} variable in the Headline field.

Variables are your friend.

Why not have the renaming in the IPTC, I then would have a "ready to FTP" file as i need to change file name before sending.
Yes the color pad also in the IPTC as i need to "see" the fiel that have been edited and ftped (see my previous request for anything sort of changes on a file that was sent t by FTP)

Also I have another question which is more support than features request :

When I am in preview mode and i click on edit a file the preview windows close. Is it possible to leave it on and send the edit in the backgroung ?

thanks for your support

You can do the renaming while FTP'ing the files.

I really don't want to bog down the IPTC Stationery Pad and turn it into a Swiss Army knife.

No.  It is a design decision.  When we remove the modality of the Preview window, we will remove that restriction as well.
