Code Replacement Apostrophe
« on: December 02, 2008, 11:07:54 AM »
I have bit of problem using Code Replacement.

Whenever I use an apostrophe to identify a team name in the possessive, ie: {Illinois'} or {Ohio State's} the apostrophe appears as a "?" in the caption {Illinoi?s} or {Ohio State?s}.

Can anyone offer a solution? I love code replacement, but I'm tired of fixing the ? marks.

PM 4.5.3.2 on a MacBook running OSX 10.4.11 (2gig Ram)

Thanks,

John Dixon

Can you post a sample of your Code Replacement text file?

Thanks,

Here is a sample of the file I'm using tonight. This is created in AppleWorks6 and saved as a .txt file. Everything else works fine, just the apostrophe. I use "i" to designate Illinois, because that's who I shoot all the time and "v" for visitor, who is Clemson, tonight.

(Now that I've read my post... This is probably an AppleWorks issue, it's a bit old.)

Thanks...

i25   Illinois’ Calvin Brock (25)
i15   Illinois’ Bubba Chisholm (15)
i30   Illinois’ Bill Cole (30)

v3   Clemson’s Zavier Anderson (3)
v10   Clemson’s Catalin Bacoi (10)
v4   Clemson’s Johah Baize (4)

It looks like your apostrophe isn't a standard apostrophe and as such it is likely not encoded properly for the UTF-8 Unicode encoding that Photo Mechanic requires.  So either use the standard 'single quote' apostrophe, or save your text file with a text editor that can save in the UTF-8 format.
