error in renaming, copying etc via file

Since I had a problem with External Harddrive Maxtor II Photomechanic 4.5.3.1 isn't able to rename, copy, print or send the tagged files.

Instead of renaming like PVG-20080522-1567 for instance I get files with the name ._1696_DSC0026
can you please advise me how to solve the problem

What is the problem that you had with your "External Harddrive Maxtor II"?
