Show blown highlights & lost shadows in review mode.
« on: June 27, 2006, 02:07:25 PM »
Has anyone asked for this yet?    One toggle could turn the image black and show the blown highlights red, green, blue (and white where more than one channel was blown).   A different toggle can do the same with lost shadows.    (ala Nikon Capture)

This would be handy for previewing photos... it would be a lot faster to get this info from PM, rather than loading into an editor to see it.

You're the first to my knowledge to ask for it.  Seems like a good addition.

Definitely a useful feature for picking the keepers and throwaways!

Would it be possible to rethink this one?
Anyone else need this?

I never thought of asking for this feature in PM, but I would certainly use it if it was added.

Now why haven't I asked for this feature myself? It's one of the few things I've always missed in PM...

So yes, count me in for this feature  :D

Something that so starkingly obvious...would be well used if implemented...
Cheers

This request is open since many years...
Give it a change to get it realized in next future?

It's a very necessary feature for select pictures and I can't understand why an implementation is so difficult/needs such a long time...

Thanks!

Why cant you just look at the Histogram in the preview mode?
I have no objection to this unless it slows the preview process (or anything else) down even when switched off.

The histogram gives only a first impression that something is blowed out - but it's not possible to see which parts of a pic that are.
Such an function is very useful if you shot in critical light situations or in bracketing mode to quick select the winners.

Take a look at Nikon View NX which has this function nice implemented (simple press "h" or "s" to see highlights or shadows in a pic, if you need it).

I think a similar implementation would be a great improvement for PM.

I also think this would be a nice feature in PM. DPP has it and sometimes I open DPP just to see the blown highlights and lost shadows..
Best regards,

I would also like to see this feature in PM. I presently switch to ViewNX2 to review images when I want this feature.
