Search by capture date
« on: December 11, 2008, 05:18:31 PM »
I just tried a search on capture time "exactly" for all photos captured on 8/26/2007 but instead I got photos for 8/27/2007 - Am I nuts or what? Version 4.5.4
Thanks

Post a screen shot of your search parameters, please.

I had a similar problem once. It's quite a while ago, so the details are hazy, but I believe the cause was related to being in different time zones and the camera not adjusting for summer time changes. One professional later told me that that was why his camera is always set to UTC

Are you certain that you have photos on your system that have the date you're searching for?  What happens if you use Spotlight directly and search for the same criteria?

OK, Lets see if I can Make this clear.

In PM:Edit>Search>Captured>Exactly>8/26/2007; yielded 3 items all created on 8/27/2007.

In Spotlight: Searching only my hard drive containing mostly photos, yielded 1462 items all created 8/26/2007. I checked many items to make sure that was the case.

Additionally, a PM search on 8/25/2007 found 235 photos all dated 8/26/2007.

See screen shot of one of the three found on by PM.

Thanks

Thanks for the additional information.  There was a bug in the Search code in Photo Mechanic.  I have fixed it for version 4.6.0 and if we make another update for version 4.5.x, I will add the fix there too.

The workaround is to pick a day earlier when using the Exactly criteria.
