Reset Sequence Number to 1 when name root changes
« on: May 03, 2009, 06:34:34 PM »
Hey Im looking for an option that will reset the sequence number when the main part of the file name changes.
I use exif date information as part of my image renaming pattern  ( YEARMONTHDAY_SEQ).  When I ingest images from a memory card that I've used for more than one date the root part of the images get set okay but the sequence number is contiguous for the all images. (Monday01,Monday02,Tuesday03 ... rather than Monday01, Monday02, Tuesday01 ...)

Thanks
Gary

I think {seqn} simply increases each time it is used, as it can be expected from such a variable, so what you ask for seems not possible as the variable doesn't know what it is used for.

I prefer rather using the original frame numbers given by the camera instead of {seqn} and combined with the fact that in my archive I keep each day in a different folder this way never have the problem you do.
Working on Mac, OSX, iOS and with some Canons.
Allways shooting RAW.
