4.6.1 Beta 5: email resize issue
« on: April 17, 2009, 05:54:34 PM »
There appears to be a bug in the "email photo" resize algorithm in 4.6.1 beta 5 (4-17-09).  I set the dimensions to 800 x 800 so I get 800px on the longest side, but this version is creating a square image rather than scaling the image proportionally.

Jason,

There appears to be a bug in the "email photo" resize algorithm in 4.6.1 beta 5 (4-17-09).  I set the dimensions to 800 x 800 so I get 800px on the longest side, but this version is creating a square image rather than scaling the image proportionally.

We made a change to allow the aspect ratio to change when using the custom size.  If you enter the width and height that you want your resulting image to be instead of using the same number twice, then you'll get the result you're after.

I suppose I could make it so that if the width and height were the same that it would be treated like it were a 'fit to box' type of scaling...

I like the "fit to box" scaling much better-- especially for email.  I usually export out  a bunch of images in both portrait and landscape orientation.  I usually don't know what the *actual* dimensions are-- I just know that I want n-pixels on the longest side.

Adding a fit to box option woul de great and I would like to vote for the otherwise standard rename and apply IPTC stationery options as well. I really miss them in the send photos via mail dialog.
Working on Mac, OSX, iOS and with some Canons.
Allways shooting RAW.

This should be fixed in beta 6, please verify.

ohh no its not working! :(

I enter the size of 2000 in "fit the box"  (email)

instead of that the pics are 800px !

when launching the email window again, 800px is in the box.. not 2000.

Sorry about that.  The Mac version is working fine, it's just the Windows one that isn't working correctly.  I'll get you a new build soon.
