Un-renaming??

There was a reply to a Sept. 2007 post stating that undoing a batch rename was not possible "at this time". Is it possible now? thanx  Dave

Until (or if ever) it gets implemented you still can put the original filenames into some fields you don't use for other purposes and from those fields you can revoke the original filenames at any time (even if the image is edited with other software and renamed by other person on other computers.

Since our editors often rename pictures I allways put the original filename into the IPTC elsewhere they usually don't modify it.
Working on Mac, OSX, iOS and with some Canons.
Allways shooting RAW.

You should use Edit Status or Object Name fields because other fields are not allowed to be used for renaming (alone).
