EXPORT / IMPORT of settings not 100% ok
« on: May 26, 2009, 11:49:46 AM »
hey,

things that arent imported:

- saved IPTC-Stationery Pads
- saved FileUploader-Settings (only the connections)
- maybe all other settings that are saved by the flash-button

using the latest version of PM on win10

Photo Mechanic has no idea where you've saved all of your saved IPTC Stationery Pad files (.IPT or .XMP) so there is no way for it to transfer them for you.  You'll have to do that yourself.

Specifically, what uploaders don't transfer connection settings?

These should all work fine.  What one aren't working for you?

I also dont have an Idea where these files are. And, its also not important for me.
But its important, that with EXP/IMP  _ALL_ is ex-/imported and I dont have to use my hands for searching, copy, past etc..

I think it is the task of PM, to be able to transfer really ALL of the settings. especially one of the important ones: FTP-"customers" and IPTC-Stat.pad

As I told - only the connections are transfered, but not my different customer-settings

Your current IPTC Stationery Pad should get exported.  Also the snapshots should get exported.  Is this not happening for you?

These 'customer-settings' are they snapshots?  Or are they 'connection settings'?

I guess.. .no...

I know what udmean, you mean the SAVE-Button in the IPTC-Pad.

I mean the flash-icon, -> SAVE  ( I guess these are the so-called snapshots?)

Yes, those are snapshots.  And they're not being exported for you even though you have them selected in the Export list?

These are also not being exported (are they in the Export list and are they selected?)

no.

(I`ve saved my standard-iptc-stat.pad as XMP and imported this on the new installed computer to have at least one useful IPTC-St.Pad)

In the export list I just selected "all"

I'm in the process of thoroughly testing the Export/Import Preferences. Thank you for your patience.

Hi - any news?

the settings (snapshots) getting more and more completed with every import-action.
So after did ist 4 times, the most are there, but now the rename-settings are still missed. maybe they`re there if I ll do the import-step another time.

As far as I know it works perfectly.  If you can show me a case where it doesn't work correctly and it can be reproduced on my end, I'll be glad to fix it.

Yes, I know.  I would keep it in strictest confidence and would delete the file after my testing.
