Keyword hickup?
« on: January 01, 2010, 02:56:15 PM »
Hi Kirk

Happy new year 2010!

I have literally thousands of my images keyworded using PM.

I did a search recently for some images and discovered that my usual method of naming (structured keywords in title case with each word separated by a comma) has been replaced with this

Cardinalfishes, Fishes, Milne Bay PNG, LOCATION - INTERNATIONAL | Milne Bay PNG

A mixture of sorts.

Is there a way yo rectify this - or must I keyword again?

Thank you.....Iain (aka willow)

Nothing needs to be done.  The last one is just a hierarchical keyword (structured keyword).  That's how they're represented now so that we're compatible with Adobe's hierarchical keywords.

HI Kirk

Thanks for the reply.

I have to research this a bit more.

One of the editors I supply for said she only wants title case or lower case separated by commas.

So what you are saying is that all the keywording I did using title case with commas will now be changed and reformatted to the new way when I open the images in PM??

No, what I am saying is that if you apply keywords to a photo with the Structured Keywords panel, each word along the path will be separated by a '|' character.  Had you entered keywords with the Structured Keywords panel?

Or if you're using 4.6.2 or 4.6.2.1 and you had a colon separating your keywords, those versions have a bug where colons are replaced with '|'.  Perhaps that's your issue.  What version of PM are you running?  You can get a beta of 4.6.2.2 from the Announcements section of the forums which corrects this problem.

Hi

4.6.2.1 is the version

I am creating keywords from a list I have created and saved using structured keywords.

Do you want the hierarchical path to be preserved, or do you just want a list of keywords?

HI

I am want the keywords NOT be separated with vertical line.  Nor do I want some of the words capitalized.

My old old format using structured keywords was something like -  PNG, Milne Bay, Fishes, Cardinalfishes

If I am understanding hierarchical, I do not want LOCATION INTERNATIONAL which is what is occurring (below)

Cardinalfishes, Fishes, Milne Bay PNG, LOCATION - INTERNATIONAL | Milne Bay PNG

I think (maybe) I had the bug issue...Iain
