error reading caption
« on: February 11, 2010, 07:15:09 AM »
Hi, Mac osx 10.5.8 photomechanic user for years.
Been adding to preexisting captions and keywords all morning, and now when I look at the same images  Photomechanic show blank caption and keywords plus the message Error reading caption message.

HELP!!!!  Please tell me that all is still there in IPTC.  Not aware of messing with preferences at all.  Keywords are there in Bridge, but I much prefer PM to add/ change aption/keywords felds quickly

OK switched off PM and restarted and all the horrors (I think) have stopped.
Was something corrupted?  THink that you can tell I'm  a real techie!

Perhaps.  Have you run any system diagnostics on your computer?  It is possible that some of your RAM is bad on your computer.  That would account for mysterious issues like this.

Kirk,
Thanks, Can you suggest diagnostic software  -- I can see utilities for directory and disk diagnostics but not RAM.

Louse,

Your Mac came with a 'Hardware Diagnostics' CD-ROM that will test your hardware for problems.
