Rename pictures

I have ingested a series of SD cards but then must transfer some of them to another folder.  I want to rename some pictures with new numbers and renumber the pictures that remain in the original folder.  How do I do this?  Thanks!

I have ingested a series of SD cards but then must transfer some of them to another folder.  I want to rename some pictures with new numbers and renumber the pictures that remain in the original folder.  How do I do this? 

Select the files you wish to move.  Use the Copy/Move Photos... command on the File menu.  Set the Move checkbox.  Use variables to do your renaming in the Copy/Move dialog.  Pick your destination.  The files will now be in their new location.  Select the remaining files.  Use the Rename Photos... command on the File menu.  Use variables to rename your files.  Click the Rename button to perform the rename.

That's it.
