Ingesting Data to "Source" field
« on: April 03, 2010, 02:44:30 PM »
Hello
Images taken with my Nikon D80 that have an image comment attached do not land in the source field when the image is ingested into Photo Mechanic.  They do land in the source field in iVew MediaPro3 if not ingested into Photo Mechanic first.  When being ingested, it appears as though Photo Mechanic overwrites the field with blank characters.  Has anyone else noticed this problem?
Thanks,
  Andy

Are you applying IPTC Stationery?  If so, what variables are you using, and what field are you writing it into?

Yes, I am applying the stationery pad during the ingest.  The files checked are Caption, keywords, Category,City, State and Copyright.  The source field was left blank and not checked.
Thanks,
  Andy

Then PM shouldn't write to it. The Source field to be filled in unless you tell the IPTC Stationery Pad to fill it in with some value.

Photo Mechanic has no variable that references the EXIF description field.  It is not possible.

Thanks for the reply Kirk.  You have save me a lot of time experimenting with alternatives trying to make it happen.
Have a Happy Easter!
