Pausing the Upload Que?

Is there a way to pause the upload que?
There are many times where I'll have a couple hundred event images being FTPed to my site and I want to pause the upload que for a few minutes so that I can get something else done without having to cancel the whole process.

No, there is no way to pause the upload queue.

Make a post in the Feature Requests section.  Please note that it won't be possible to pause a file that are currently transmitting though it should be able to pause as soon as all currently transmitting files are finished uploading.

I don't know if that's good enough for your needs however.
