Live Ingest Problems...Help
« on: July 07, 2010, 07:58:38 AM »
Running PM 464 Mac 10.5.8
I've used a few times with great success (Mac 10.5.7).
We have a new problem.
We always ingest to two drives.
We often stop ingest and update the caption and the renaming (portraits).
The file renaming is not updating to both drives.
One has the old name, one has the new name.
The caption is updating.
The live ingest shows it transferring two different names.

I really want to use this tomorrow...

Also a 5 second option for the RAW file would be awesome... (for tethered shooting).

OK so it seems that when I update the naming I have to do it twice, once for the primary and once for the secondary.....
Any way around this?
I dont recall having to do this in the past....

If I understand you correctly, you are renaming files after they have ingested? In this case you indeed have to rename the files at both locations. Only during the ingest does PM really know those two locations have anything to do with each other. After that it (rightly imo) treats them separately.

Hope this explains what you are seeing,

No I'm renaming them in the Live Ingest Dialog box.
As a new sitter comes in we  stop the ingest and set the rename to their name we also change the IPTC.
The IPTC applies to all destination discs, the rename only applies to whichever destination is visible in the dialog box.
I have to manually select the other disc and change that one as well or it will not have the new name.
It will, however, have the new caption.....

You'll need to change the rename string for both Primary and Secondary destinations. The Live Ingest dialog is capable of having different rename strings for each destination, this is by design.

Jerry,
Understood, I assumed  the additional copies were used mostly for backup.
Perhaps a check box to give all the copies the same rename?
Its time consuming to keep changing both when your client demands a different label for each variation of a shoot.
Thankyou as  always
